When I was at a show in New Haven this afternoon, I saw this silent monitor with the blue screen and I asked the desk person if I should hit the play button. “No,” she said. “It just stays like that, on pause.”

Oh, I get it. Pause.

I’m on the train, reading Schjeldahl’s review of “1969. Here’s the last line: “It seems that we’ll never be permitted to graduate from the university of the obvious.” Brilliant.

I’ve been painting on paper and wood for the past year, and so I forgot how differently canvas takes the paint. I love nudging it into the grain with a hard bristle brush.

Who doesn’t love artist giveaway projects? Timothy Buckwalter has started a mix tape club and I just got the first installment—two CDs of music and artwork by Mike Monteiro and Jim Winters. Now I’m looking forward to the commute tomorrow.

Promotion Project Update: The Visual Arts Department has recommended that my application for promtion be accepted. Here’s the first page of their three page letter to the Dean.
